Though I have not ever been in a serious automobile collision, I have been in one that could have been significant had things been just a little bit different. I consider myself fortunate, and I hope this is nothing that I ever have to go through, and I hope no one in my family has that sort of bad luck either. No one wants to go through an automobile accident; you need to know it is a possibility. I stress out about them the most in winter. We live in a place where everyone thinks they can handle the snow, and they go rushing through it as if they were indomitable. They are frequently proven wrong.

Teenagers know the risks of an automobile accident but they just don't think it can happen to them. I just not ever thought I was in danger, and I was blessed that the only automobile accident I was in was quite minor, and equally blessed in that no-one got hurt. Icy roads were to blame for that accident, and thankfully no one had been drinking.
If you worry about your kids being involved in an automobile accident, you have a right to worry. The smartest teens in the world make some poor choices. That is all a part of growing up. You have to warn them of the dangers of drinking and being in a motor vehicle, and you have to let them know that an automobile collision can happen at any time. This might not be enough though, and that means you have to ensure you know where your kids are and what they are doing all the time. This might mean making them stay home when their friends are out. They might say they dislike you for it, but it's all part of being a great parent. Personally, I would prefer a mad kid to a dead child.
